Following a request from Red Bull, the FIA has issued a new technical directive on the rear brake bosses of Formula 1 cars.
According to Red Bull, the rear brake ventilation systems at Mercedes – and probably Racing Point as well – are not within the scope of the current regulations. According to these regulations, air ducts at the rear wheels are not permitted above 160 millimetres above the wheel centre.
Already from the opening race in Australia the new clarification of the FIA must be implemented. For the first two races this may be done by means of provisional arrangements. From the third race onwards (currently Vietnam) the constructions have to be permanently modified.
